Roots of Light — handmade gelatin silver print
The gelatin silver print Roots of Light explores the connection between nature and existence through the image of a tree whose roots emerge from the earth, touching the light. This is print 1/10 from the limited edition — the first impression in the series, hand-crafted using the analog process in the darkroom.
About the photograph
In this black-and-white composition, the contrast between the dark, solid roots and the soft, diffused light in the background becomes a metaphor for the balance between stability and change. The tree does not resist the light — it receives it, as if roots and crown have always belonged to the same conversation between earth and sky.
The photograph breathes with the quiet strength of nature and reminds us of the cycle of life in which everything that grows is at once rooted and free. Roots of Light is a visual meditation on what it means to be both connected and open.
The silver gelatin process
The gelatin silver print is made by hand using the classic process in the darkroom — exposure under the enlarger, development in chemical baths, fixing and careful washing. Each print is a unique copy, hand-tuned to the tonal balance that best suits the spirit of the photograph.
The classic silver gelatin process on Ilford Multigrade RC paper gives the photograph depth, rich texture and archival permanence. With proper storage, such a print can last more than a hundred years.
Shipping and framing
The gelatin silver print arrives carefully packaged, ready for framing. The frame is not included so you can choose one that best suits the space where the photograph will live. Acid-free framing with UV-protective glass is recommended.
A certificate of authenticity is provided with every print.
