We believe photography is visualizing emotion. This print is the visualization of quiet confidence, dramatic beauty, and timeless elegance. It is a statement piece that doesn’t shout, but powerfully speaks. It is perfect for a study, a living room, or any wall that deserves a touch of true, analogue soul.

This is not a mass-produced digital print; this is an original silver gelatin photograph, which I personally crafted, step-by-step, in my private darkroom.

As a photographer who believes that “photography is visualizing emotions,” this piece is more to me than just a picture of a flower. It is an intimate study of light, form, and texture, captured on classic black and white film. Using carefully controlled studio light (my Godox setup), I “sculpted” each petal to lift it from the velvety darkness, creating a feeling of quiet, elegant serenity.

Sunflower — silver gelatin sunflower print, chiaroscuro study

The silver gelatin sunflower print is more than a photograph of a flower — it is a piece of sculptural light, designed to bring a dramatic yet serene energy to your space. Handmade in my darkroom, on premium Ilford Pearl paper.

A study in chiaroscuro

Look closely at the petals. They aren’t just white — they are luminous. They seem to glow from within, emerging from a void of deep, velvety black. This isn’t a lucky snapshot; this is the result of meticulous studio work, where light was sculpted — just as a painter uses a brush — to trace the delicate, silky texture of one petal and the confident curve of the next.

This is the power of chiaroscuro — the classical art technique of using intense contrast between light and dark. It gives the flower an almost three-dimensional, tactile quality. You can feel the stillness of the studio, the precise moment the flash defined this form, freezing its elegant geometry forever.

The essence of a real silver gelatin print

This silver gelatin sunflower print has soul because it was made by hand. It is a true silver gelatin print, born in the chemistry of my darkroom. The image is composed of pure, metallic silver, which is why it has a depth and luminosity that no digital ink-jet print can ever replicate.

Why Ilford Pearl paper?

The Ilford Multigrade Deluxe RC “Pearl” finish was chosen specifically for this image. It’s a connoisseur’s choice:

  • No harsh glare: beautifully absorbs light, allowing you to get lost in the details without fighting reflections
  • Inky blacks: the Pearl finish produces some of the richest, deepest blacks possible, making the background truly bottomless
  • Luminous whites: the highlights aren’t a flat white — they have a gentle, sophisticated sheen that feels organic and real

The process

Captured on classic black-and-white film. Using carefully controlled studio light, I “sculpted” each petal to lift it from the velvety darkness, creating a feeling of quiet, elegant serenity. Every print in this series is hand-enlarged onto premium Ilford Pearl paper, step by step — exposure, development, fixing, washing, and careful drying.

Collectible status

This print is part of a strictly limited edition of 10 prints. Each is hand-signed and numbered. Once the edition is sold out, it will never be printed in this format again. It comes professionally mounted in an archival mat, transforming it from a photograph into a gallery-ready artwork.

The emotion

I believe photography is the visualization of emotion. This print is the visualization of quiet confidence, dramatic beauty, and timeless elegance — a statement piece that doesn’t shout, but powerfully speaks. Perfect for a study, a living room, or any wall that deserves a touch of true, analog soul.

A certificate of authenticity is provided with every print.

SILVER GELATIN PRINT

The photograph is handcrafted in a traditional darkroom, hand-exposed and developed on premium Ilford Multigrade Fiber-Based (FB) or RC paper. Using classic silver halide chemistry, this authentic analog process guarantees exquisite tonal gradations, deep archival blacks, and a museum-grade lifespan of over 100 years.

MUSEUM MATBOARD

Each artwork is hand-mounted in an acid-free museum matboard in an off-white shade. With a precise 45° bevel cut, the matboard isolates the photograph from the glass, creates a captivating gallery depth, and protects it for generations.

03 /

BACKING BOARD

The back of the artwork is secured with a rigid, pH-neutral barrier board. This backing prevents the cotton paper from rippling and warping over the years, ensuring the print remains perfectly flat within its frame.
